U.S. Markets Closed, European Stocks Mostly Down

In the U.S. markets were closed.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. Games Workshop Group rose 5.9% and Umicore climbed 4.4%. On the other hand, Spectris dropped 7.7%, and Ringkjoebing Landbobank lost 2.7%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France's CAC 40 decreased 0.2% and Germany's DAX fell 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 99.89.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.3% to $85.04 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.3% to $80.48 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.3% to EUR34.6 a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield held steady at 2.39%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 6 basis points to 4.227% from 4.227%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.2%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.7%, whereas China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.4%.
